The History of Saint Paul

Saint Paul is in Ramsey County, Minnesota https://www.minneapolismn.gov/. Saint Paul is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area and is the largest city. It is the 2nd most populous city in the state of Minnesota. Together with Minneapolis they make up the “Twin Cities” and the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States. It is the county seat of Ramsey County. Also, the capital of Minnesota. Saint Paul lies on the bank of the Mississippi.

The Dakota Sioux lived on this land. But even before them over 2,000 years ago lived the Hopewell Native Americans. The Dakota name for Saint Paul is “Imnizaska” which means “little white rock” for its exposed white limestone cliffs. Was named the capital of the Minnesota territory in 1849 and Minnesota Capital 1858 when Minnesota became the 32nd State of the

United States. At that time over 1,000 steamboats came to Saint Paul a year and it was the gateway for settlers.

Lastly, the median income is $48,258. Saint Paul has the Excel Center which is the home of the Minnesota Wild hockey team. The Science Museum of Minnesota is also located there. As a business hub of the Upper Midwest it is headquarters of

such companies as Ecolab. Lots of wonderful cultural experiences to be found in Saint Paul like the Ordway Center for the performing arts, Minnesota History Center, Como Park & Zoo and Fort Snelling to just name a few.

My conclusion

To summarize, I have found Saint Paul to be a popular city. Importantly, it features parks and trail systems, wonderful city lakes, a very convenient location, and is highly rated in many categories. In short, I strongly suggest considering Saint Paul if you are planning on moving to the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
