Lakeland is in Washington County, Minnesota. It is part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area that has 3.52 million residents. It is located east of the St. Paul and 27 minutes to St. Paul.
Was settled in 1839 by a small group of French Canadians and Indian families. Established to trade with Hudson across the river. A ferry service was started in 1848. Commercial development and the school, stores, doctor’s office, lawyer, hotel and saloon came in the 1850’s. Mills then followed. The city was incorporated in 1951.

My conclusion
To summarize, I have found Lakeland to be a popular city. Importantly, it has great amenities that include…wonderful parks, trails, is on the Saint Croix and has a reasonable commute to St. Paul, has highly rated schools, and a historic small-town feel. In short, I strongly suggest considering Lakeland if you are planning on moving to the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
